Wolves Under-21s rescued a draw against Southampton to register their first point at the fourth attempt in the elite section of the FA Premier League.
Matt Doherty's controversial penalty in the fifth minute of time added on salvaged a share of the spoils after Liam McAlinden's 58th-minute header gave them hope following goals from Saints' Jake Sinclair (16) and Lloyd Isgrove (48).
The visitors' pace saw them look the more dangerous side, and contribute to Wolves centre-back Michael Ihiekwe's 82nd-minute dismissal for a second bookable offence after he hauled down Isgrove in full flight, 10 minutes after fouling the same player for his first booking.
Southampton took the lead through Sinclair's cheeky back-heel after Jamie Tank blocked Omar Rowe's angled shot only for the winger to collect the rebound and cross following a poor pass from Jack Price.
Keeper Jonathan Flatt twice denied Rowe before half-time after he broke free, parrying a shot before diving to his left to smother the rebound.
Southampton doubled their lead when Isgrove picked up possession on the right 35 yards out and ran at a retreating defence before poking the ball in from close range.
The impressive McAlinden reduced the deficit when he headed home Price's right-wing cross after Doherty's short pass.
Sinclair's shot on the turn was beaten away by Flatt before Rowe fired a few feet wide as Saints looked to make it 3-1.
Wolves weren't finished, however, and Tank headed over from under the Saints' bar from Anthony Forde's corner.
Then came the controversial penalty after McAlinden's cross was judged to have struck the hand of Aaron Martin, who was booked for carrying his protests too far.
Doherty calmly stepped up to sidefoot the spot-kick high into the centre of the net.
