Striker Jake Cassidy has been put on alert to play his part in keeping Wolves in the Championship.

The loan window opens tomorrow for Football League clubs to sign players on a temporary basis until March 24.

Rookie Cassidy is one of the players attracting attention from other clubs, with Tranmere keen on re-signing the striker, who turns 20 on Saturday, for a third loan spell.

But boss Dean Saunders wants the Wales Under-21 international to stay at Wolves, where he is convinced the youngster will play his part between now and the end of the season.

Cassidy made his full Championship debut against Blackburn in the manager's first game in charge and has figured in three Wolves matches after scoring 11 goals in 28 for Tranmere this season.

"Jake is going to be a good player," said Saunders.

"He's got a lot of tools and I think he's going to play his part for us this season.

"Unless we get a couple of centre-forwards, he's going to have to. I have worked with him now for three or four weeks and he can do most things.

"He can score all types of goals and it wouldn't surprise me if he played on Saturday and scored a hat-trick or came off the bench and got a goal."

Winger Adam Hammill is expected to be loaned out after Saunders revealed there had been plenty of interest in him, while Eggert Jonsson and Georg Margreitter could also be allowed to leave on a temporary basis.

"There are a few clubs would like to take Adam – we've had a few phone calls," said Saunders.

"There's a queue of players on that right-hand side, especially when Razak Boukari is fit again – we'll have Stephen Hunt, Slawomir Peszko, Adam and Anthony Forde, plus Kevin Foley has played there for me, Dave Edwards can play there too and Bjorn Sigurdarson has played there.

"There are eight or nine who can play on the right, so I need to balance the squad up."
