Jermaine Pennant on his last chance at Wolves

Wolves loanee Jermaine Pennant could be preparing for his swan-song against Blackburn– while Stephen Hunt will win a final chance to impress.

Stoke winger Pennant's loan deal expires on January 19 and the 29-year-old has been told he has a fresh chance back at the Britannia Stadium, where he is out of contract this summer.

Pennant struggled to impress under former boss Stale Solbakken, while the team has won in just two of his 15 appearances.

But new manager Dean Saunders wants to run the rule over Pennant in tomorrow's televised visit of Blackburn.

Saunders said: "I might play Jermaine. He's on loan, so I have given him a clean sheet of paper. We will have a conversation about that today.

"No one has said anything to him yet and he's in a difficult situation, because another manager brought him in on loan and I have got too many players.

"So we will have to see, because he's a talented player."

Fellow winger Hunt is still working his way back to full fitness after a hip operation.

But the 31-year-old, whose contract expires this summer, is a player Saunders believes can still be an asset to Wolves.

The Wolves boss said: "I'm looking forward to working with Stephen Hunt. Let's get him fit.

"We know he's good enough and he will travel up and down the right-hand side with enthusiasm and effort.

"I'll be turning our fitness coach, Mal Purchase, towards Stephen to see if he can get him on the pitch.

"He's another player of Premier League quality who has a good attitude."

Saunders admits he may have to sell some players without having assessed them fully.

He said: "Ideally, I would like to see them all play, but we will probably get offers for some and I might have to say 'yes' without working with them.

"I might need the money to get a couple in."
