Boss Stale Solbakken must wait another two months before getting the chance to work with one of Wolves' key Premier League campaigners.
Midfielder Jamie O'Hara today confirmed he will undergo a second bout of surgery to try to resolve the hernia problem which has dogged him all year.
O'Hara's injury woes, and his efforts to play through them as Wolves slid towards relegation last season, have left the player facing another lengthy spell on the sidelines.
He estimates the new surgery will rule him out for another eight weeks, which is likely to keep him away from the Championship campaign until deep into November.
O'Hara posted the update on his Twitter account. "Sorry to disappoint the fans but am having surgery tomorrow on my hernia – the first operation didn't seem to work so I'm now going to undergo a different type of hernia op," he said.
"It's been a really frustrating time for me and I'm dying to get back on the pitch. I'm hoping to be fit in around eight weeks so I'll have a lot of the season left.
"I'd rather take my time now than rush it and have problems for the rest of my career. I'm still only 25 and got a long time in the game. Hopefully this will make me stronger, thanks for all the support."
The loss of a potentially major player, given a full return to form and fitness, is a blow to Solbakken – even though the injury problems ensure the midfielder will not be another to be poached by Premier League predators.
But it continues a troubled 2012 for the ex-Spurs man, who was heckled and abused by supporters after one game last season.
