Want-away Wolves striker Steven Fletcher has completed his first full training session in three weeks – but misses tonight's Molineux curtain-raiser against Barnsley.
Fletcher trained fully yesterday for the first time since suffering an ankle injury, staying behind to work with fitness coach Tony Daley after falling behind on his stamina because of the injury.
"There's nothing new on Fletcher – only that he's done his first 100 per cent session since his injury and afterwards he was flat out on the ground," said the boss.
"If he trains well this week and there are no setbacks, he can be our 'joker'!"
Chief executive Jez Moxey uses his programme notes for tonight's game to convey Wolves' cast-iron resolve to hold out for their valuation on Fletcher and England winger Matt Jarvis.
The Molineux board hasn't heard from Sunderland for several days following the Black Cats' latest bid, believed to be around £13m.
Since the striker's transfer request, submitted on August 8, contact from Sunderland has cooled as they play a waiting game, knowing the pressure is growing on Wolves by keeping an unhappy player.
Wolves are still awaiting further contact from the Hammers over Jarvis, having rejected two offers.
