Dorus De Vries today challenged Wolves to give themselves a platform for a good start in the Championship by leaving the Premier League with a win.

De Vries kept his first clean sheet in the Premier League on Sunday with the goalless draw against Everton, as Wolves made it back-to-back unbeaten games for the first time this year in the league.

However, they are still to win under manager Terry Connor with their last victory coming 13 games ago at QPR, while Wolves have won just once in 23 Premier League matches.

But De Vries believes victory on Sunday at Wigan, who clinched safety with a 1-0 success to relegate Blackburn last night, would be the ideal way to sign off for the summer on a positive note.

The Dutch goalkeeper said: "It was a good team performance and a clean sheet against Everton and, hopefully, we can finish our season against Wigan in a positive way.

"Getting a win on Sunday would mean a lot because it's been a terrible season for everyone involved and if we could just go off for the summer reflecting on everything with a win, it helps.

"You want to feel positive over the summer to try to get a good start going into next season. We have got to keep our chins up."
