Wolves boss Terry Connor was today backed to take the job long term after improving training.
Keeper Dorus De Vries said Connor has made the sessions with the players "easier, better and sharper" since taking charge on February 24 for the last 13 games of the season.
Connor's fate will be known after the final game at Wigan on May 13. Results have worsened under Mick McCarthy's successor and the club has now been relegated after just two points out of 30 since he took charge.
But the 49-year-old is popular with the players and has a firm admirer in chief executive Jez Moxey.
"He took over from Mick McCarthy, which was hard at that time, but he's got real passion for this club and he's made training a lot better and easier, but sharper, more interesting and enjoyable," said De Vries.
"'TC' has tried to keep us going and he did really well in trying to stay focused towards the end of the season. I've really enjoyed my time under him.
"He did everything to ensure the players had the right mindset as well."
Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers, on opposite sides to Connor today at the Liberty Stadium, believes he should be given the chance to lead the club back to the Premier League.
Admirable
"Terry was thrown in at the deep end but the way he's handled himself has been admirable," said Rodgers.
"He certainly deserves a chance to manage the club next season. He knows all about the soul of the club and he deserves the chance to get the club to get back into the Premier League.
"I think given the opportunity, he would have a great chance of getting Wolves straight back up."
De Vries, meanwhile, insisted he isn't happy at the prospect of Championship football but wants to be first choice and lead the club back to the Premier League.
"When I signed, I wanted three years in the Premier League but we're going down, so I'm not happy at all," he said.
"Next season everyone has got to get the mindset right to make sure we get back up straight away. That's the target, and in the last three games we want to create a positive feeling."
