Jake Cassidy bagged a brace as spirited Wolves Reserves withstood a two-goal fightback from Norwich to win a see-saw thriller at AFC Telford last night.

Cassidy grabbed the winner when he bundled home Kristian Kostrna's cross eight minutes from time.

The Welsh striker earlier put Wolves ahead in the 35th minute when he netted with a firm header from six yards to convert John Gorman's perfect cross after home midfielder Jack Price headed Harry Barker's header off the line within 90 seconds of the start.

Dangerman Matt Ball gave notice of his intentions when he screwed inches wide after turning his man following a one-two with Richard Brindley which split the home defence a minute before the break.

Wolves survived a scare when Joshua Murphy's angled shot forced keeper Aljaz Cotman into a falling save after Price gave the ball away.

But Wolves doubled their lead in the 49th minute when midfielder Louis Harris showed good technique to volley home from 20 yards after Anthony Forde's powerful, 25-yard swerving drive crashed down off the bar.

Norwich hit back to level with two goals in three minutes through Ball.

First the striker curled a 20-yard free-kick into the bottom left-hand corner of the net on 65 after he was fouled by centre-back Olly Bashford following a poor clearance by Cotman.

Then Ball buried a spot kick to Cotman's right after fellow central defender Michael Ihiekwe was harshly punished for sliding in to pass back when he caught Murphy in the 67th minute.

Norwich almost snatched the winner through Jamar Loza but the striker's tight-angled shot was hacked off the line by Ihiekwe after he had rounded Cotman when clean through.

Then came Cassidy's dramatic winner after keeper David Wootton had produced a superb reaction save from the striker's header from Gorman's chip.

Cassidy missed the chance of his hat-trick at the death when he blasted over an open goal after bravely jumping with Wootton to a long ball.
