Wolves winger Adam Hammill has expressed his delight at being part of a promotion chase rather than a relegation scrap after joining Middlesbrough on loan.

The 24-year-old wideman made his Boro debut in their 3-1 win at Portsmouth at the weekend, setting up the third goal for Marvin Emnes.

Now he's preparing to face old club Barnsley in his home debut tonight, the club from which he joined Wolves for £500,000 in January 2011. Hammill, who could be at the Riverside for the rest of the season but can be recalled after 28 days, had made three Premier League starts for Wolves this season and figured in just 19 games in 13 months.

"There's nothing like playing matches, and I couldn't have asked for more," he said. "It's fantastic to be involved at a club going for promotion. Everywhere else I've played I've been in relegation battles."
