Michael Kightly to start for Wolves

Michael Kightly will start for Wolves in tomorrow's FA Cup third-round tie at Birmingham – as boss Mick McCarthy today revealed he will not be making wholesale changes.

The Wolves boss this afternoon confirmed the winger is on the teamsheet after returning from his loan spell at Championship side Watford.

New £600,000 signing Eggert Jonsson could also make his debut after joining from Hearts.

"Michael Kightly is playing. He's looking really sharp in training – he's looked terrific," said McCarthy.

"The purpose of him going out on loan was to get games and he's done that and I'm delighted.

"We had a game here yesterday and he really looked back at it. He's a good player."

McCarthy said he won't be weakening his Wolves side, but will make a late check on captain Roger Johnson after the defender suffered an ankle knock in training today.

"Roger actually rocked his ankle in training so it will be interesting to see if he is fit," he said.

Potential replacement Jody Craddock is taking longer than expected to recover from his hamstring injury.

"It's the same injury with Jody but we're taking a bit more care over it," said the boss. "Not that we didn't take enough care over it but he re-injured it, so we've just got to be careful."

Regarding Jonsson, McCarthy said: "Eggert's doing fine and he's training well, so I'm pleased with him."

But most of the side that played against Chelsea on Monday is expected to start at St. Andrew's.

"I won't be making many changes," said McCarthy.

"I don't think I'm losing much by saying Michael Kightly will be starting, but the rest will be very similar to what we have been.

"We want to win because it's a local derby and we want to have a good Cup run so it can help us win in the Premier League."
