Wolves defender Richard Stearman today declared he is prepared to play at right-back if Jody Craddock returns to steady the ship.

Mick McCarthy's side are under pressure to arrest their sudden slide after two heavy defeats to Newcastle and Everton and the weekend results left them bottom of the table, although they have a game in hand.

After seven goals conceded in two games, Stearman is one of the men under the spotlight to tighten up.

Bringing back Craddock, the club's most experienced player, and moving Stearman to right-back is one of the options McCarthy is looking at after looking at the experiment in training.

And the former Leicester man said he is up to the task.

"Centre-half is my best position and that's where I've been very happy with the way I've performed," said Stearman.

"But if the manager decides to change something, that's up to him and you'd have to ask him that.

"If I have to play somewhere else to do a job, then I'll do that job.

"I'm certainly not alien to right-back. I haven't played there all season so it's not going to be too much of a shock to the system.

"But I'll have to get the legs going again — if selected there."

Stearman added: "I wouldn't say there's been a lot wrong with the way myself and Christophe Berra have played, but if the manager wants to go a different way, he goes a different way."
