Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey believes that the club will again challenge among the top five in the country.

Fuelled by owner Steve Morgan's long-term vision for Wolves, Moxey believes they can once again compete with the elite under manager Mick McCarthy.

He said: "The aim is to get us back where everyone thinks we belong.

"We are kidding ourselves if we think we can usurp Manchester United, but we think we can get to just below that level - in the top three, four or five clubs where we can be competing in Europe.

"But we will only do it by staying in the Premier League and Steve Morgan said to us recently that we have to 'think bigger' and have faith in what we're doing and stay strong to achieve that.

"Steve has always said he's not in it to play around. He wants us to be as good as we can be and if that's challenging in the top three or four clubs for the league, then so be it.

"What we won't be is something we're not."

Speaking at a Beacon Radio fans' forum at Wulfrun Hall last night, Moxey believes McCarthy has created a 'special group.'

The chief executive said: "He has built this club how the fans wanted to see it - prior to Mick coming here, people used to say 'the players don't play for the shirt.'

"Well that doesn't happen any more and that's down to the manager. The board is 100 per cent behind Mick.

"We have a very special group of players, a very special manager and a very special backroom staff and, from Karl Henry to the kids in the academy, they are all committed to Wolverhampton Wanderers."
