Graham Taylor today admitted he fears one of the West Midlands' four clubs will go down - with Wolves his biggest concern.
The former Wolves, Villa and England boss, who is back at Molineux this weekend to pay tribute to late former defender Dean Richards at the Tottenham game, wants his two old teams - as well as their bitter rivals Albion and Birmingham - to retain their collective top-flight billing.
But he believes luck could play a crucial part in the fortunes of the region's Premier League teams - and he admits fearing for Wolves.
"I've seen Wolves 'live' four times this season and they've drawn two and lost two, but every time I've seen them they should have won - and they were unlucky not to," said Taylor.
"The worry I have is that every relegated side can say they were unlucky.
"Luck is something you can't control - it's something that just happens.
"I saw them against Villa and I thought Villa were very fortunate to win, and what worries me is that relegated sides tend to have all the bad luck."
Taylor believes there is still time for Wolves to win the race for survival.
"That win over Blackpool was a massive help for Wolves and hopefully they get three points against Spurs," he said.
"I just have the feeling it's there for them to stay up, but they need to get some good fortune and if they can get that then they've got a good chance.
"I look at Albion and I don't know how they didn't beat Stoke at the death the other night.
"So they're all alive and kicking but for everyone, I say one of us is going to go because there are too many of our teams near the line for them all to stay up.
"I've got a little feeling for one of the Midlands clubs to go, and if you ask me which one, it will be whoever doesn't get that stroke of good fortune."
Taylor insists he wants all four sides to stay up again, however.
"I'm just hoping all the Midlands teams stay up - and I include Stoke in that as well," he said.
"I've lived in the Midlands for long enough to have a great feeling for the area and our teams, and now that they're all in the top division again, I want the teams to be successful.
"Even though I'm a Villa man, it didn't stop me from wanting Blues to beat Arsenal last weekend."
