Goal hero George Elokobi has vowed Wolves will climb the Premier League table as he saluted a "massive" win over Manchester United.

Saturday's famous 2-1 victory over the league leaders ended United's hopes of a club record 30-match unbeaten league run.

But it gave fresh hope for Mick McCarthy's side, who climbed to second from bottom courtesy of Birmingham's 1-0 win against West Ham yesterday and are two points from safety.

And Elokobi, whose opener against United was his first league goal for Wolves, insisted the win will make all the difference to their survival chances.

He said: "We've got to climb the table and that's what we're going to do. I'm hoping this result will change everything for us.

"It's a massive win because after losing to Bolton on Wednesday night, it kept us in touch with the teams around us.

"We knew we had to put in a performance and hopefully we can carry this on after beating Manchester United.

"We can go to Arsenal and be confident about ourselves."

The Cameroon-born defender believes Wolves' spirit is key.

He said: "There's something about us - we have got a never-say-die attitude and we're going to keep that throughout the season.

"We haven't changed from the first game and we're not going to change that now.

"We will keep playing the same way."

Elokobi is more concerned at Wolves' survival chances than getting a United shirt as a souvenir.

He added: "I'm more worried about staying in this league."
