?Mick McCarthy insists he will remain as Wolves boss for the long term - even if the club goes down.

McCarthy also revealed there would be no firesale of players in the event of relegation.

Fourteen managers have lost their jobs since the start of December but McCarthy has the full support of the board and he is convinced he won't join the sack race.

"I have no intentions of going anywhere," said the 51-year-old, who who has been in charge for four-and-a-half years and is on a 12-month rolling contract.

"I intend staying in the Premier League and being here next season. There's no-one here apart from a few on messageboards or phone-ins who say 'sack the manager'.

"But that's not what I hear from the majority of people. Our fans have been brilliant, and the same goes for people within the club."

McCarthy added: "I keep saying we'll go back in the bottom three but that doesn't worry me. We're not going down, though.

"I fully expect us to be out of it on May 22 because we've got players who know what it's about. If we did go down the club doesn't need the money, so there won't be any stupid sales or wholesale departures. They'll have to put up with me and they'll have to get us back up."
