Wolves can leapfrog Baggies say fans

Fans were out in force at the Wolves shop in Dudley Street this afternoon, full of cheer and optimism after the win over Chelsea.

Fans were out in force at the Wolves shop in Dudley Street this afternoon, full of cheer and optimism.

Among them was student Samantha Martin, aged 18.

Samantha, of Severn Drive, Perton, said the win had already made her 2011.

She said: "We are only one point behind the Baggies now. I'm sure we will overtake them by the end of the season."

Samantha, who is studying zoology at Bangor University, added: "Our season is just starting."

Season ticket holder Tony Turpin, 71, of Short Heath, Willenhall, believes the team could now go on and beat anyone.

He said: "The whole team played so well."

Sainsbury's worker Roxanne Webber, 44, of Wombourne, had to eat her words today after warning her 10-year-old son Jordan that Wolves would not win.

Mrs Webber, whose husband Richard, a 46-year-old quality control manager, took her son to the game, added: "Wolves really needed this win to boost confidence. I think we can climb up the table now."

Mother-of-four Joanne Ledgwidge, aged 40, of Essington, agreed that the win could turn the side's season around.

She was at the Wolves store this afternoon with sons Jude, 18 months and Saul, aged two, picking up some Wolves merchandise.

Life-long Wolves fan and season ticket holder David Wood, a 52-year-old electrician who travelled up from his home town of Tadley in Hampshire, said watching Wolves beat Chelsea was worth the journey. He said: "I think the win could turn our season around."

School cleaner Maureen Cooper, 56, of Hordern Road, Whitmore Reans, listened to the game on the radio with scafolder husband Monty, 53. She said: "It was brilliant. I was pleased for Mick after last night."
