Stephen Hunt has warned Wolves the Premier League will "eat them up" if they allow their famous victory against Chelsea to go to their heads.

Victory against the champions made it four in seven for Mick McCarthy's side and saw them climb out of the drop zone for the first time since October 2.

But winger Hunt has been relegated in his last two Premier League seasons with Reading and Hull and stresses the need to be more consistent in the games to come.

The 29-year-old said: "We need to settle down, relax and go again - that's important because as soon as you think you've cracked it in this league, it can eat you and you lose a game.

"We've been winning one and losing one now for the last eight games and it's about time we dug out a draw somewhere instead of one of those defeats. Last season when I was at Hull, Wolves used to get draws all the time.

"If we can get a few draws in with those wins, we'll be fine."

Hunt told his team-mates to go for broke after wins for Birmingham and Fulham had increased the gap to safety to three points.

He said: "It was a good win and a massive three points. With the way the results went the other night, I said to the lads 'let's be positive and get a win because the more teams we can get around us, the better' and that was the way it turned out.

"Now it's even better than I thought because I didn't realise we were out of the bottom three."

Hunt insists Wolves didn't approach the game differently to any other.

He said: "It was the same plan we had at Liverpool when it worked and at West Ham when it didn't! We're playing a more direct way now and we're getting results from it.

"We do take massive heart from it but Chelsea are going through a bit of a rough patch at the moment, so it probably was the right time to play them."

Wolves have still lost six out of seven in games against teams around them and Hunt stressed the need to start beating their rivals.

He said: "Let's crack on now, it's time to get strong against the teams around us.

"I know we've got Manchester City away next in the league so it will be a bonus if we get anything from that.

"But from now on, every game against a team around us is a six-pointer and it's important we don't get nervous."

Hunt added the Molineux masses have a huge part to play.

He said: "Last night the fans were right behind us which is what we want. They could see we were under pressure but they kept right behind us.

"But it's really important for them not to be nervous when we play teams at the bottom, because we're nervous too and we have to deal with that."
