Defender Ronald Zubar has declared he is ready to join Wolves' survival bid on Saturday if needed.

Zubar came through his comeback in the reserves' 2-1 defeat at Arsenal on Tuesday, after a month out following surgery to remove an ankle spur, and is back in full training.

The 25-year-old has been restricted to just 33 minutes' Premier League action this season after ankle and groin injuries, with his availability to rejoin the squad a welcome boost.

He said: "I feel fine and am available to be in the squad for Saturday. My ankle is fine and there hasn't been any reaction which is good.

"Now it's up to the gaffer."

Zubar, who has played most of his career at centre-back but not for Wolves, has thrown his hat into the ring to play there.

He said: "I played at centre half on Tuesday, which is where I've played a lot."

But Richard Stearman and Steven Mouyokolo would appear to be the men in the frame, although the latter didn't train today.

Wolves' opponents on Saturday, Sunderland, come to Molineux with personnel problems of their own.

Steve Bruce's side have been hit by an injury crisis in defence, with centre-backs Michael Turner and John Mensah both out.

Turner will be out for months with a knee injury after colliding with the post at Everton in Monday's 2-2 draw.

He is almost certain to be joined by Ghana captain Mensah, who has a shoulder injury.

In addition, Titus Bramble, who has been arguably Sunderland's best player this season, is out for between six to eight weeks after knee surgery today.

That leaves Anton Ferdinand - just back from a hamstring injury - and the relatively unused Paraguay captain Paulo da Silva as Bruce's only fit centre-backs.
