Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has declared two-goal Geoffrey Mujangi Bia and Steven Mouyokolo fully fit for the first-team after another 90 minutes of reserve football.

Both players sailed through the win over Sunderland last night, as the second string ended a run of three straight defeats with their first victory of the season at Eppleton Colliery.

McCarthy, who watched the game against his former club with assistant Terry Connor, said: "Steven and Geoffrey got another 90 minutes under their belts.

"Having done that, they're fully fit and ready to play."

While Mujangi Bia struck twice, Mouyokolo made a number of crucial tackles in a game played at a high tempo.

Wolves goalkeeper Daniel East had to be alert to deal with two early efforts from Liam Noble, while Jordan Cook flashed a shot across the face of goal.

Noble also fired just wide from the edge of the area as Sunderland pressed.

Wolves' first threat came when James Spray's attempted lob from the edge of the box was saved by goalkeeper Ben Wilson.

But the visitors took the lead after 21 minutes. Scott Malone was the supplier, feeding Mujangi Bia down the left and the Belgian winger cut inside before unleashing a right foot drive that flew inside Wilson's near post from 12 yards.

Wolves doubled their lead nine minutes later when Ashley Hemmings guided home a header from Nathan Rooney's corner.

Noble's corner hit the bar before bouncing to safety, but it was Wolves who finished the half strongly with the impressive Mujangi Bia firing narrowly wide after a jinking run.

The visitors had to be alert just two minutes after the interval when Billy Knott's piledriver was tipped over by East.

Wolves then had to defend as Cook flashed a shot just wide and Jack Colback's free-kick forced a mass scramble in the area before the visitors cleared their line.

Spray should have sealed it for Wolves after Malone left him in the clear, before Michael Lamb somehow headed wide from point-blank range at the other end.

But Wolves finally clinched victory seven minutes from time when Mujangi Bia stylishly drew the goalkeeper out before slotting into the empty net, after Sam Winnall's pass beat the offside trap.
