Marcus Hahnemann today reflected on the late lapses that are threatening to derail Wolves this season.
Mick McCarthy's men have lost their last three Premier League games, shipping five goals in the dying minutes.
Goalkeeper Hahnemann is confident the team can end their poor run as he reflected on the goals that have contributed to defeats at TotFulham, Tottenham and at home to Villa.
"When we get those lucky bounces, we'll be picking up points again and that's what we have to remember — sometimes things just happen for a reason," said Hahnemann.
"We've been on the receiving end of a few decisions and a few goals have gone in late but it's just the way it goes."
Wolves appeared to be heading for a draw against Villa until Heskey's late winner.
Hahnemann admitted confidence took a blow in the aftermath of another setback, but hinted the second half improvement at Molineux on Sunday is something they will reflect on positively.
"You looked around in the dressing room and heads were down because we'd just lost, it's three defeats in a row and it's frustrating," he said. "The guys are giving everything they've got and at the moment we're just a bit unlucky.
"Maybe we deserved something with the way we played in the second half.
"We really thought we were on top after half-time and maybe we'd have accepted a 1-1 draw. So to lose was just so disappointing."
Hahnemann knows Wolves' next two games against teams below them — at Wigan on Saturday then at home to West Ham after the international break — offer a chance to get back on track.
But the 38-year-old stressed no one will be taking Wigan lightly.
"Wigan has never been an easy place to go to and that's what we have to deal with next," said the keeper. "It's always a tough game up there."
And, returning to the Villa setback, Hahnemann admits he is still thinking about how he could have saved Heskey's header.
"I was trying to figure out how I could save that and I couldn't. It was a difficult one," he said.
