Dave Edwards is determined to use his new contract to gatecrash the Wolves first team again.
Wolves announced the 24-year-old had signed a new three-year deal yesterday running to 2013, with a further 12 months in the club's favour.
So far this season, the Wales midfielder has been unable to impress much after picking up a thigh injury on international duty in the week before the opening game against Stoke.
But starts in the Carling Cup against Southend and for Wales against Montenegro have seen the midfielder to build up his match sharpness as he looks to find a way back in.
And with fellow midfielder Nenad Milijas now forced into a 'time-out' to get up to speed, Edwards wants to make his presence felt again.
"I had a little niggle at the start of the season which held me back," said Edwards.
"That was bad timing again but only lasted a couple of weeks. Now I'm back fit, back training and just pushing as hard as I can to get back in the squad and make a difference. That means working hard and making the gaffer notice me.
"The boys have done very well so far this season but there's always an opportunity for players and it's up to me when I do get a chance to make sure I take it."
Edwards admitted he's been frustrated after getting a good pre-season in. "I felt fit and strong," he said. "I went away on international duty and tore a muscle in my abductor and the timing of that was terrible.
"I had two frustrating weeks in the physio's room but I've been back out now for a week and got an international game under my belt.
"Now it's up to me to do well in training and get myself back in the manager's thoughts."
Edwards' progression has been steady since joining the club in January 2008 and he stressed he is not getting carried away.
"I played a lot of games in the Championship and then managed to be a regular last season until I got injured which was very unfortunate," he said. "But the Premier League is the best league in the world and I want to be playing in it."
