Marcus Hahnemann hails Wolves' revival

Marcus Hahnemann today hailed Wolves' comeback kings after they snatched a deserved draw at Everton.

Sylvan Ebanks-Blake's late strike salvaged a point at Goodison Park on Saturday to make it four points from the opening two Premier League games.

Wolves rode out a first-half Everton assault to hit back after the break and keeper Hahnemann insisted the visitors' recovery merited a point.

"It was a great second-half performance and it's great to come away with four points from two games," he said. "We maybe gave them a little bit too much respect in the first-half.

"We knew it would be a difficult game and in the first-half we were under tons of pressure and were maybe lucky to be only 1-0 down. But we showed great character and regrouped at half time. In the second-half because we were a goal down we had to press and it worked in our favour."

Tim Cahill fired the Toffees into a 43rd minute lead, despite Wolves claiming he fouled Jody Craddock in the process.

But Hahnemann refused to blame referee Lee Mason who also angered Everton by not awarding a foul on Heitinga after Adlene Guedioura challenged him in the build-up to Wolves leveller. "Jody went to clear it and Tim Cahill stuck his leg in," he said. "The referee couldn't see it because of all the bodies and the linesman didn't see it either."

"It's one of those things and referees have a tough job to do.

"I think everyone complains about everything and when it goes against you then you don't like it."

And the 38-year-old called on his team-mates not to let their momentum slip away ahead of tomorrow night's Carling Cup visit of Southend and Saturday's home clash with Villa's conquers Newcastle.

"We stayed up last year and did everything we could but didn't have a great start," he said.

"This year we've turned it around with a great win last weekend and another good point on Saturday.

"We have such a young team but they all have that Premier League experience now which helps you figure out how to get draws out of games."
