Prior to the recent trip to Oxford United, Albion were stacked in terms of central defensive options.

Kyle Bartley and Semi Ajayi were ever present in the league - with Paddy McNair and Mason Holgate waiting eagerly in the wings for their chance.

Compliment that with current left back Torbjorn Heggem being a central defender by trade, and Albion were comfortably stocked in that area.

Fast forward a few weeks and the situation looks different. After it was confirmed last week that Bartley is set for a spell on the sidelines, Albion have now been left without two other defenders.

McNair pulled up just minutes into the draw with Cardiff, and is now out for two months with a hamstring injury which all but signals the end of his Albion playing days, with his loan move set to end in December.

And Ajayi has been ruled out for four months with a knee injury sustained late in the draw with the Bluebirds.

So Corberan has a conundrum on his hands, does he go with his two remaining options in Holgate and Heggem or does the defensive issue lend itself to a potential change of shape.
