West Brom's David Button left out of two friendlies - as Zac Ashworth set for League One loan

Out-of-favour goalkeeper David Button was dropped from Albion’s pre-season friendly at Salford on Wednesday – with youngster Zac Ashworth set to head out on loan.

Button, 34, was available for selection and not injured but left out of Carlos Corberan’s 22-man squad, a mix of youth and experience against the League Two hosts.

He was also left out of the friendly at Cheltenham 24 hours earlier.

The omission poses further questions over the goalkeeper’s future at The Hawthorns as the Baggies look to balance the books by trimming the wage bill, preferably via those not in Corberan’s plans.
