West Brom academy awarded category one status
Albion’s academy has been granted category one status for at least the next two years, the club has confirmed.
The Baggies have had their licence extended following a recent audit by the Premier League, in what is a welcome boost for the club.
Albion have operated at the top category one status since the Elite Player Performance Plan was introduced by the Premier League in 2012.
But they were granted only a one-year licence extension, rather than the usual three, following an inspection early last year and the club has since made the necessary improvements required to keep its status.
