West Brom were unable to secure a third straight victory on Thursday night

West Brom's hopes of pulling off another Premier League great escape suffered a serious setback when Leicester took them part in 36 minutes on Thursday night.

After back-to-back victories against Chelsea and Southampton, Sam Allardyce's side found themselves 3-0 down in a little over half an hour against the Foxes.

That result has left the Baggies 19th in the table and nine points from safety with just six games remaining, and Allardyce himself has said his team will need to win five of those to pull off to be "absolutely certain" of Premier League survival.

This evening they travel to Birmingham for a West Midlands derby against an Aston Villa side that has won just once in their last seven games.

The reverse fixture in December marked Big Sam's first game in charge at The Hawthorns, but ended in a 3-0 defeat.

Team news

West Brom appeared to make it through their defeat at Leicester unscathed, so there are no new injury issues. Robert Snodgrass and Kieran Gibbs missed the game through injury, so may miss out again. Branislav Ivanovic is still out after injuring his hamstring against Chelsea.

Villa meanwhile remain without skipper Jack Grealish who continues his recovery from a shin injury. Trezeguet and Morgan Sanson are both out with knee injuries.

Villa could be boosted by the return of Wesley into the first-team squad. The Brazilian suffered a serious knee injury on New Years' Day last season and has featured in the U23s of late.

Matty Cash will miss the fixture having been sent off in the 2-1 defeat to Manchester City.

Next fixture

Today's West Midlands derby will be followed by a Black Country derby next Monday when Wolves come to The Hawthorns.
