Ex-Albion man Micky Lewis dies aged 56
Former Albion midfielder Micky Lewis has died aged 56 after a short battle with lung cancer.
Lewis, who was born in Birmingham, came through the youth ranks at The Hawthorns and broke into the first team in 1981.
He grew a reputation as a tough-tackling midfielder, playing 33 games before leaving for Derby in 1984.
Lewis spent four years at Derby before moving on to Oxford United, where he became a huge favourite. Lewis played 351 times for the U’s and was twice caretaker boss, in 1999/2000 and in 2014.
