Ex-West Brom man Darren Fletcher back at Old Trafford
Former Albion skipper Darren Fletcher has been appointed to the first-team coaching staff at Manchester United.
The former Scotland midfielder came through the youth ranks at Old Trafford and helped the club win a host of honours, including five Premier League titles, the FA Cup and the Champions League.
Fletcher moved to The Hawthorns in 2015 and quickly became a fans’ favourite thanks to his impressive performances in central midfield.
After a spell at Stoke, he retired in 2019 and revealed his long term aim is to go into management.
Fletcher returned to Old Trafford last October to take up a coaching role with the under-16s.
But he will now step up to help with first-team duties on a full-time basis.
“Darren has the United DNA running through his veins and he knows exactly what it takes to be a Manchester United player,” said boss Ole Gunner Solskjaer. “He is at the start of his coaching career and his experience, along with his winning mentality, will be a great addition to the staff.”
