Callum Robinson says Albion were always going to have some tough spells this season – but the forward has vowed the team will stay positive heading into their clash with Tottenham.

Back-to-back draws against Burnley and Brighton made it appear the Baggies had made significant progress in adapting to life in the Premier League.

But all that good work was undone at Fulham on Monday, with Slaven Bilic’s side massively outperformed in a defeat at Craven Cottage.

Robinson, though, says all promoted sides endure difficult spells when they are in the top flight.

“There are going to be some downs this season,” the striker said.

“We are not Liverpool or Manchester City who are expected to win each week. That was us last year but this year we have to stay positive even when results don’t go are way.

“We are staying positive because the manager spreads that to us, he tells us to go and express ourselves because he knows if we do that we are going to create chances and score goals. We want to prove that we are as good as most in this league and show what we can do, not just collectively, but individually as well.”

Robinson believes it’s important for players to talk and have their say when things aren’t going well.

And he says that is always something Bilic encourages.

“He (Bilic) listens and it’s something I haven’t had before – the players can openly talk. We can talk to him and say stuff like ‘I don’t think that is going to work in the game’ and he will look at it and tell you whether he thinks you are right or wrong.

“That’s what he is really good at, man management and he said he’ll always help the lads be positive and for the forward players he tells you to do your thing.

“All the lads respect and want to work hard for him and that’s because he is open about the game and life.”

Meanwhile, Millwall boss Gary Rowett wants to keep Albion striker Kenneth Zohore beyond his initial loan which expires in January.

“We want to keep him (Zohore) down here if we can,” the boss said.

“We want to try to work as hard as we can to get him back playing as quickly as we can within a safe period.

“He wants to commit to that as well.”
