Slaven Bilic has already been reunited with two of last season’s loan stars in Grady Diangana and Matheus Pereira and wants to also bring Krovinovic and Robinson back to The Hawthorns.

Talks are ongoing with Benfica over another season-long loan agreement for Krovinovic, with Robinson expected to join permanently from Sheffield United in a deal which will see Oliver Burke go the other way.

Both players are currently away on international duty and talks are expected to progress on their return.

The deal is unlikely to be a straight swap, with the Blades set to also demand a small fee for Robinson, who joined them from Preston for £8million a year ago.

Getting any value from Burke, who still had two years remaining on his contract, will still be a huge bonus for the Baggies.

The Scotland international became one of the most expensive signings in club history when he joined for £15m from RB Leipzig three years ago but has managed just two league starts and spent the past two seasons out on loan.

Goalkeeper David Button became Albion’s fourth signing of the window - and the third in the space of 24 hours - when his £1million switch from Brighton was confirmed on Saturday.

The 31-year-old was then on the bench for the Baggies when they faced his former club later in the day in their final pre-season friendly, the match ending 0-0.

Button joins Sam Johnstone and Jonathan Bond in the club’s goalkeeping department, with the latter having also agreed a one-year deal.

Johnstone will start the season as No.1 but Button, who made four Premier League appearances in two seasons with the Seagulls, is keen to provide stern competition.

He said: “I obviously understand that Sam got them promoted last season so he will start the season and it’s up to me to push him and show the manager what I can do and take my chances when I get them.

“The goal this season is to be successful and from a personal point of view I’m ambitious and want to play as much as I can so I’ll be pushing Sam and making sure if I’m not playing then he’s playing well so that can only benefit everybody. We’ll all be pushing to bring the best out of each other.”

Albion start their Premier League season when they host Leicester City on Sunday.
