West Brom stars have made calls to fans during lockdown

In a bid to help lift the mood during the coronavirus outbreak, a host of star names have made surprise calls to fans to raise their spirits.

Season ticket holders aged over 70 have received the majority of the calls with Slaven Bilic, Chris Brunt, Jake Livermore, Charlie Austin, Kieran Gibbs, Romaine Sawyers and Filip Krovinovic amongst the first-team players who have picked up the phone.

Albion legends Tony Brown, Brendon Batson, Ally Robertson, Graham Williams, Joe Mayo, Daryl Burgess, Ray Wilson and Andy Johnson have also been busy making calls.

The Baggies have been inundated with requests for phone calls since it was revealed the players are taking time out of their days to talk with supporters.

The sheer volume of requests means not everyone is able to get a call. But the club is doing it's best to contact as many people as possible, particularly the most vulnerable.

And in the video published this morning, you can see just what those phone calls mean – with supporters reacting with a mixture of joy, excitement and disbelief when they realise who is on the phone.
