Jake Livermore talks trimming down at West Brom
Jake Livermore believes trimming down and getting over a number of niggling injuries has been key to his impressive start to the season.
The 29-year-old has been an integral part of the Baggies side that has made an unbeaten start to the new Championship campaign.
Wearing the captain's armband, Livermore's has been praised by supporters for his performances who have also commented on his new physique.
And the midfielder admits the Albion players like to have a laugh and a joke about how much they each weigh.
“I have made a conscious effort to try and trim down,” Livermore said.
“I have been working hard in the gym. I have been working hard with the staff and the chef with what to eat. I have actually really enjoyed it.
"We have got a great squad here and I have a bit of a laugh with a few of the boys in the dressing room about our weights.
"I do feel a lot better.
"I actually feel the last few seasons I have been in good nick.
"But I have had a few injuries and this summer I really gave myself a break to get myself right.
"And those niggles, that I used to play through, have hopefully now been eradicated so I can just concentrate on getting around the field."
Livermore admits he is enjoying playing under Slaven Bilić who he says had made a big impression on the squad since taking over in June.
"He (Bilic) has been fantastic around the place," the former Tottenham man said.
"He was a fantastic player himself and I think that carries a lot of weight with the boys.
"They respect him and his staff and what they are trying to do on the field.
"But above all, he is just a top man. He has got a great relationship with all the players."
