The experienced midfielder believes the teenager will get plenty of opportunities to play at The Hawthorns next season that might be difficult to find elsewhere.

Harper is out of contract in the summer, and has been made a second and final offer from the club.

The 19-year-old is reportedly interesting Celtic, Norwich and Tottenham after breaking into Albion’s senior team.

Morrison has officially been released by the club but could return if the new head coach is keen to offer him a new deal. And he reckons Harper should stay at the Baggies.

Morrison said: “In midfield (next season) there’s only Rak, Sam (Field), Jake (Livermore), and Chris (Brunt). He’s got a chance to play.

“Is he guaranteed that at Celtic? He’s not. And that’s a tough place to play too.”

Morrison has not been offered a new contract by the club, and neither has fellow central midfielder Gareth Barry.

But the Baggies do not have a head coach at the moment, and ties haven’t been severed completely.

Loanee Stefan Johansen has returned to his parent club Fulham, who have activated a 12-month extension on his contract.

Fulham are also interested in Dwight Gayle, Albion’s top scorer last season, who will not be returning to The Hawthorns next season because of his Premier League wage packet.
