The 20-year-old has made 32 appearances this season at the heart of the Grecians’ defence, helping them mount a play-off push.

His performances have reportedly caught the eye of Bournemouth, who are keen to pluck young talent from the EFL.

However, the Baggies are expected to offer him a new contract following his impressive displays for Exeter.

O’Shea is a Republic of Ireland under-21 international, who has stepped up to League Two after helping Hereford win the Southern Premier League last season.

Exeter boss Matty Taylor believes he has a future at the top level of football.

“He could go all the way,” Taylor told BBC Sport. “If you’re 19 years old and playing regularly at centre-half or centre midfield in League Two, you’ve got a chance of making it all the way in the game.

“Since he’s come into the team he’s been exceptional for us.

“He’s still a young defender learning his game and we feel we’ve played a part in his development. He’s going to be a very good player.”

O’Shea joined the Baggies aged 16 from St Kevin’s Boys in Dublin.

Meanwhile, Albion’s under-18s gained revenge on Manchester City for their FA Youth Cup semi-final defeat, beating them 3-1 over the weekend thanks to goals from Morgan Rogers, Taylor Gardner-Hickman, and John Malcom.

Albion's under-23s drew 0-0 with Villa at the Banks's Stadium last night in their final game of the season.
