Alex Neil denies any contact from West Brom regarding managerial role
Alex Neil has claimed he's still not been contacted by West Brom - despite national reports once again linking him with the job.
Neil has helped guide Preston to tenth in the Championship, with the club still harbouring hopes of a late charge into the play-offs despite losing their last two fixtures.
Albion meanwhile suffered their first defeat under James Shan over the weekend at Millwall, leading to reports that Neil is the number one target for the hot-seat at The Hawthorns.
Neil says he's only focused on doing his job at Deepdale.
"I can't control what people write. As I have said before, I have not spoken to anybody from West Brom, I have not heard anything from West Brom apart from what you are telling me, I am just cracking on with my job here." he told Lancs Live.
"I enjoy it here. I have no intention of leaving and we are planning for the remaining six games and we will see what happens next season for us because we have already put plans in place for pre-season so I am not even thinking about any of that."
Shan is currently operating under a 'game by game' basis with the Baggies, and the Express and Star understands he will remain in charge for the trip to Ashton Gate having stabilised the club with nine points from a possible 12.
Defeat at The Den has encouraged the board, however, to line up experienced coaches to help the caretaker, with one or two appointments now possible later this week.
Neil does remain the club's primary target to take over with Slavisa Jokanovic also thought to be in the running come the summer if promotion isn't achieved.
For now, the Baggies ideally want a temporary man in charge until the end of the season.
