James Shan provides update on West Brom injuries and internationals ahead of Blues clash
Matt Phillips will step up his return from injury next week, as West Brom caretaker boss James Shan provided an update on his squad ahead of the clash with Birmingham City.
Shan remains in charge of Albion on a caretaker basis, with the game against Blues allowing him to stake a claim to remain in charge for the rest of this season.
He won't be able to welcome Matt Phillips back into the playing squad for the encounter, although he will cast his eye on Albion's returning internationals - all of whom have headed back to The Hawthorns having featured for their respective nations.
"Matty should return to full training next week." Shan said.
"There is just him and other than that it’s a full bill of health.
"The three lads that were away report back today.
"Ahmed [Hegazi] went back to Egypt but was back in training on Monday. Stefan [Johansen], Sam [Field] and Rekeem [Harper] are back in the building today and we’ll be out on the grass training."
Centre-back Hegazi was allowed to miss Egypt's friendly clash with Nigeria after not featuring in the country's final Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Niger.
Johansen started and skippered Norway in their 2-1 defeat to Spain before sitting out his nation's 3-3 draw with Sweden.
Field and Harper were both in England youth action for the U20 and U19 sides respectively, with Harper missing out on qualification for the European U19 finals courtesy of a 2-2 draw with Denmark.
Phillips however, hasn't featured for the Baggies since the 1-1 draw with Ipswich, with an ankle injury keeping him sidelined.
