Slavisa Jokanovic on West Brom's shortlist for new head coach
Albion are keen to appoint a new manager as early as possible and have former Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic as one of their top targets.
The Baggies have sacked Darren Moore tonight after a 1-1 draw with rock-bottom Ipswich Town left them nine points off the automatic promotion spots.
However, Albion are already on the hunt for Moore's successor and are keen to appoint someone as soon as possible in order to have the maximum impact in the remaining 10 games of the season.
The board are hopeful of having their man in place before the Swansea home game on Wednesday.
Jokanovic, who took Fulham up from the Championship last season, is one of the top names on the shortlist.
David Wagner, who recently left Huddersfield Town but also has experience winning promotion out of the Championship, is another option who will be explored.
It's understood the board became increasingly unconvinced Moore, who was given the job in the summer after impressing as caretaker boss last season, was getting the best out of one of the strongest squads in the division.
Albion have the second highest wage bill in the division and chief executive Mark Jenkins and technical director Luke Dowling believed the team should be challenging for the top two.
Moore's assistants Graeme Jones and Wayne Jacobs have also left the club, with first team coach James Shan given the reins for the time being.
Explaining the decision to sack Moore, chief executive Mark Jenkins said: “This has been an enormously difficult decision for a club which will always hold Darren in such high regard.
“He took over at a very difficult time last season and reunited the club, a contribution that will never be forgotten.
“But we have made it clear from the outset that everything this season was geared to making as swift a return to the Premier League as possible.
“Unfortunately Darren has not been able to engineer the consistency of form and results to convince the board that this objective would be met.
“After discussions with our owners, the difficult decision to make a change was taken.
"Darren’s dedication over the last 12 months is not underestimated and there will always be a welcome for him at The Hawthorns.
“But we have to place the club’s best interests at the forefront of our thinking and we must do everything we can to try to deliver the promotion we have targeted."
