Fourth-placed Baggies host rock bottom Ipswich Town tomorrow, before Swansea visit on Wednesday, with Moore’s men looking to bounce back after back-to-back defeats to Sheffield United and Leeds dented their automatic promotion hopes. They are also aiming to improve a record which has seen them win just one of their last eight home league games.

Albion, the Championship’s second-highest scorers, have been blunted on their home turf, netting just 12 goals in those eight games, compared to 26 in their first nine of the campaign.

Moore admits they have struggled to break down opponents who sit back and has been searching for a solution.

He said: “We continue to work in terms of how teams have set up against us at home. They’ve not come here to be free-flowing – and credit to them. They’ve identified a strength in our game which they’ve wanted to combat. I never ever cry over it because as we know in football it’s difficult to do it.

“It present us with another hurdle to try to overcome. We have to look at other aspects of what teams have been doing here and ways to deal with it. It’s part and parcel of the season.”

Last Friday’s 4-0 defeat at Leeds left Albion seven points adrift of the top six, with just 11 games to play.

Moore, who expects to have Matt Phillips back available after the winger missed the trip to Elland Road through injury, was today expected to give an update on the fitness of Kieran Gibbs.

The former Arsenal star, the Baggies first-choice left-back, missed the Leeds defeat with a hip problem.

Ipswich, managed by former Villa boss Paul Lambert, arrive at The Hawthorns having lost seven of their last eight away league fixtures and 12 points adrift of safety.

“The players have shown great resilience,” added Moore. “You’ve seen a willingness from the team to keep going.

“Even in games when we’ve been behind by a goal, we’ve shown great determination and grit to get back and salvage some wonderful points.

“Every game we come into, we have the mindset of trying to win. That will always be the case.”
