Former West Brom striker Saido Berahino ‘set for Stoke exit’
Former Albion striker Saido Berahino looks set to be banished from Stoke’s first-team for the rest of the season, according to reports.
The striker, who has seen his career blighted by off-field issues both at The Hawthorns and the bet365 Stadium, is due in court next month accused of drink-driving.
Berahino was pulled over by police in London on Monday. And it has been reported new Stoke boss Nathan Jones is ‘livid’ with the striker’s behaviour. Jones is expected to fine Berahino two weeks’ wages – estimated to be £80,000 – and make him train with Stoke’s youth players for the rest of the season. It also believed the Potters will look to sell the forward in the summer.
But with the player under contract until 2022, Stoke chiefs are also reviewing the club’s legal position if Cannock-based Berahino is convicted.
