The official supporters’ club had organised a tribute night to Albion’s longest-serving players for this Sunday night at The Hawthorns.

Around 270 fans had snapped up tickets worth £50 each for the dinner, with all profits donated to charities chosen by the players.

But Brunt and Morrison will be in Dubai on Darren Moore’s warm weather training camp and the dinner has now been postponed until the end of the season.

“It’s unfortunate, but the needs of the football club come first,” said supporters’ club chairman John Homer.

“If it’s for the good of the team and it helps with results, we’re happy with it.

“The upside is, we can have a great bash at the end of the season when hopefully, we’ll be celebrating promotion as well.

“It’s not the players’ fault, and they’re still desperate to do it.

“Obviously everyone who has a ticket can hold on to them until the summer.

“But if anyone wants a refund, get in touch with Alan Cleverley and we’ll sort that out.”

Brunt said: “We are both really touched and honoured by the idea of the dinner and we’re really sorry to have inconvenienced everyone.

"But we are trying to set an alternative date now and hopefully, when it finally does take place, we’ll all have a great night.”

Brunt and Morrison are both in their 12th seasons at The Hawthorns after joining the Albion in the summer of 2007 when Tony Mowbray was manager.

Brunt has made 396 appearances for Albion, and Morrison has made 334.
