Jake Livermore has fallen back in love with football at West Brom
Jake Livermore has fallen back in love with football under Baggies boss Darren Moore.
The Albion midfielder endured a tough campaign last season which involved two unsavoury incidents.
In January he waded into the crowd after a West Ham fan taunted him over the death of his baby son, and one month later he was one of the 'Cab Four' who allegedly stole a taxi in Barcelona.
But the England international has been in impressive form since Moore took over.
He was nominated for Premier League player of the month in April when Moore was caretaker and has started every league game so far this season.
Although Livermore was sent off on Saturday against Wigan and will serve a one-match ban on Wednesday, he's confident his team-mates will bounce back against Derby and can't wait to be involved again himself.
“I've found my love for football again,” Livermore told the Express & Star. “Even on days like Saturday I won't be too down.
“I'm more disappointed and frustrated than anyone, believe me, but it's football. That's why we love it.
“When we win we won't be scraped off the ceiling and when we lose we won't be scraped off the floor.
"We love each other in that changing room. We'll be fine. The good thing is we're back at it on Wednesday.”
Livermore has been one of the most important players under Moore this season, but he was quick to praise both the head coach and his team-mates around him.
When he was asked how Moore was getting the best out of him, he said: “He's just a good guy more than anything else. We've got a team structure and he allows us to do what we're good at.
“Everyone's got their strengths. Him and Bonner (assistant Graeme Jones) are good at addressing that and it seems to work.
“My form’s been okay but it helps when you've got a back three who are doing really well, and you've got Harvey Barnes and the two lads up front as well as the wingers.
“We're all in it together. If I have a good game we all have a good game and vice versa.”
Livermore was frustrated by the defeat to Wigan on Saturday, but having been on the other side of the coin, he refused to make excuses.
“We won't hide from anything,” he said. “We're a big team in this league and everyone is going to try and come and stop us play.
“Last season we got results against Liverpool, Tottenham, and Manchester United. We had good results playing the way Wigan played.
“We know what it's like and it can happen to the very best of teams. It's a long season, we won't need scraping off the floor, hopefully the fans are with us and we go again Wednesday."
