Manchester United eye up former West Brom sporting director Dan Ashworth
Former Albion sporting director Dan Ashworth has been shortlisted by Manchester United as one of their targets for their first ever technical director.
Ashworth, who is currently the FA's technical director, made his name at the Baggies during a successful five-year stint.
In 2012 he was headhunted by the FA and over the past few years, his reputation has soared thanks to impressive performances in tournaments for England's teams.
As well as lifting both the U20 and U17 World Cups and the U19 European Championships, the England senior team reached the semi-final of Russia 2018 this year.
Ashworth has been one of the driving forces behind that success after introducing the England DNA into the national set-up, a playing and coaching philosophy designed to ensure consistency across age groups.
United are also keen on RB Leipzig's head of recruitment, Paul Mitchell, who has previously enjoyed success at Southampton and Tottenham.
Edwin van der Sar, who is currently at Ajax, is also in the running.
