Darren Moore sees positive signs at West Brom

Although the Baggies finished strongly in their Championship clash with Nottingham Forest on Tuesday, they were out played for long spells at the City Ground.

But Moore has pleaded for patience following what has been a tough summer at the club.

After eight successive years in the top-flight, Albion became accustomed to a safety-first style of play in a bid to stay in the Premier League.

But following their relegation to the Championship, Moore knows they have to be more expansive with teams now happy to sit-back and soak up pressure against them.

And the boss is starting to see some encouraging signs as he works to improve the way they play.

“In the Championship there’s a whole new mentality and a change that has to take effect,” the 44-year-old said.

“It’s going to take time. But there’s been slight signs.

“We’re nowhere near where we want to be or the finished article. But there are slight signs.

“We’re in a difficult division playing against some excellent teams.

“But against Nottingham Forest I was really pleased with the way we went there and performed in difficult circumstances against a very good team.

“Hopefully you’ve seen one or two manage the occasion mentally.

“Certainly on the pitch putting in a good performance, coming out with a good point and might have taken all three towards the end.”

Albion are on the hunt for a right-back ahead of the transfer window for permanent transfers closing today.

Tosin Adarabioyo, who is primarily a centre-back, was asked to fill in for the trip to Nottingham.

And while he had an anxious moment with an under-hit back-pass, Moore felt he got better as the game wore on.

“I thought Tosin did well in what was a difficult game to come into,” the boss continued.

“It’s a game that will do him the world of good for one so young. I thought he was excellent.

“His one-v-one defending was superb, his positional sense was good, the timing of his headers got better as the game wore on.

“He got pulled into some difficult situations.

“I thought he did very good and was part of a team that got a good point.

“Credit to him. I’m very pleased with him. He knows I’m very pleased with him.”
