Former West Brom striker Kevin Phillips follows Gary Rowett to Stoke City
Former Albion striker Kevin Phillips has followed Gary Rowett to Stoke City as a member of his backroom staff.
Phillips, who is also an Express & Star columnist, will be specifically working with Stoke’s strikers, mirroring the role he used to do at Derby County.
“I worked with Kev at Derby and felt he brought a great deal to the strikers and was really, really good at what he did,” said Rowett.
It means Phillips will be working with former Wolves striker Benik Afobe and ex-Albion forward Saido Berahino, both of whom now play for Stoke.
Rowett has also taken Rory Delap back to the Potteries as a first team coach.
Elsewhere, former Albion players Darren Carter and James Quinn have teamed up as coaches in the academy of National League side Solihull Moors.
