Former favourite Paul Robinson says it would be a ‘scandal’ if Darren Moore wasn’t given the Albion job permanently.

Robinson, who spent seven years at The Hawthorns, was part of the original Great Escape squad of 2004/05 alongside Moore.

And the former full-back, who is now a coach at Birmingham City, thinks his ex-teammate deserves to be handed the reins.

Robinson tweeted over the weekend: “What a job @DarrenMooro is doing @WBA if he doesn’t get the opportunity to take full control it’s a scandal #wba #greatescape2”

Moore has kept Albion in the division four weeks in a row thanks to stunning wins over Manchester United, Newcastle, and Tottenham, plus a late fightback against Liverpool.

Only Manchester City (24), United (19) and Spurs (13) have won more points than the Baggies (10) against the big six clubs this season.

Moore has won seven of those points in three games and is unbeaten in his five games in charge.

Although he has refused to say whether he wants the full-time job or not, he is set to stay on next season as a coach, regardless of whether he’s in the hot seat or not.

Robinson has been a player-coach at Blues this season and was due to leave the club in the summer but head coach Garry Monk has opened the door for him to stay in some capacity.
