West Brom 1 Tottenham 0 - Player ratings
Albion kept their survival hopes alive with a stunning 1-0 win over Spurs on Saturday thanks to Jake Livermore's injury-time winner. Here, we rate the players.
Ben Foster
Nothing was getting past him. He made five saves in total, rushed out to deny both Kane and Lamela when they were put through one-on-one and pushed long range efforts from Wanyama and Eriksen around the post. When he clasped Llorente’s header in injury time with the score at 1-0, it was done. 8/10
Allan Nyom
Nearly lost his head in the second half during a spell of handbags with Rose, and went down theatrically under his push, even though it was in his face. Also failed to step out with Dawson in the build-up to Kane’s chance, but on the whole he was solid. 6/10
Craig Dawson
Another monumental performance at the heart of defence that included countless clearances with foot and head. And it was his towering header that set up the goal. Only blip was when he tried to play Kane offside and Nyom didn’t step up, but there were far more many blocks and tackles. 8/10
Ahmed Hegazi
Just like his centre-back partner, Hegazi always seemed to be in the right place at the right time. And his back-to-back crosses with different feet from the left hand side were remarkably impressive. 8/10
Kieran Gibbs
Got forward well and posed some problems for Spurs at the back post but the visitors had most of their joy down the right with Trippier. 6/10
Matt Phillips
He continues to shine under Moore. All of his corners were right on the button, and he set up the chance for Hegazi and the goal itself. Also burned Rose to set up a good chance for Rondon too. 8/10
Chris Brunt
Another solid performance in central midfield from Albion’s reliable stand-in skipper. His free-kicks were dangerous too. 7/10
Jake Livermore
Reacted quickest to bundle the ball home in injury time to score his second goal in as many home games after waiting a year for his first. Was disciplined in his shape. 8/10
James McClean
It says everything that he started the game being booed, and when he came off he was given a standing ovation. McClean is made for games like this, and nobody can doubt his commitment. He picked up a yellow card for a typically reckless challenge but most of his tackles were spot on and important too. 7/10
Jay Rodriguez
Struggled to have much say in the opposition's third because Albion were on the back foot but did lots of unseen running and dropped back in as a fifth midfielder when needed. It was a real team performance and he did well to put Brunt’s free-kick back across goal with his only sniff. 7/10
Salomon Rondon
Heroic battling performance and held the ball up well on his own. Was kicked from pillar to post by Tottenham's back line but kept fighting. However, he did miss a golden chance when Phillips found him eight yards out. 7/10
Substitutes
Daniel Sturridge (Rondon 74)
Lost possession in a dangerous position and missed his only chance, although it came at him quickly. Sent in a cross that led to the corner that led to the goal. 5/10
Nacer Chadli (Rodriguez 79)
Played centrally and looked bright. 6/10
Grzegorz Krychowiak (McClean 87)
Put a late chance over the bar. 5/10
Unused: Myhill, Evans, Yacob, Robson-Kanu.
