West Brom defender Ahmed Hegazi escapes ban after clash with Liverpool striker Danny Ings
Ahmed Hegazi has escaped a ban from the Football Association – despite appearing to strike Danny Ings during Saturday's 2-2 draw with Liverpool.
The Egyptian defender was caught on camera apparently aiming a punch at Ings' ribs, but the incident was missed by match referee Stuart Attwell so it was referred to an independent panel.
The three referees on that panel could not agree
After the match, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said: "Hegazi on Ings, it is a red card. You see it, I see it, but that's not important. It is only important what three or four gentleman with a whistle say about it. So we cannot change."
