Under-pressure Pardew sat down with chief executive Mark Jenkins and director of football administration Richard Garlick this week.

The 56-year-old has won just one of 16 Premier League games at the Baggies helm, the latest being a 4-1 loss to Leicester. Sat rock-bottom, they head to Bournemouth tomorrow for a must-win game.

"I said after Saturday's game it's probably time I spoke to upstairs a little bit," said Pardew.

"Every sort of week I'm on my last game, so let's clear the air.

"I'll tell you what I think, so I told them what I think – what perhaps needs to happen, going forward, with this club.

"They listened to that and I'm still in the job. That's where we are."

Albion are widely expected to be relegated to the Championship as they are currently eight points from safety.

"I didn't think I'd be in this scenario, but I am. I need to keep showing the fight I have in me," said Pardew.

"I do care. Trust me, I care. I want this team to win. And I think my players care, my senior players care.

"Sometimes, with a dysfunctional team, it's hard. But you've got to show the fight.

"Even if you're not the greatest team, which obviously we're not, you've got to keep fighting until the last moment to try to squeeze something out of the game."

Pardew vowed to not walk away from the club, adding: "I signed a contract to be West Brom manager.

"When I signed it, I signed it because I genuinely believed we could stay in the Premier League.

"But there was also a clause in the contract to say if it didn't work out and we went to Championship, the contract to cover that - and it does.

"Of course I have to look to the future and I will look to future.

"It's been a difficult period but that's not to say I'm not ingrained in this football club already. I want to do well for this football club.

"At the moment, it's not being reflected on the football pitch.

"That could cost me my job. But it won't be my decision."
