Alan Pardew has laid into Grzegorz Krychowiak for refusing to shake his hand when he was substituted off.

Krychowiak was brought off just before the hour mark for 19-year-old Sam Field despite being one of Albion's more determined performers on the day.

The Paris Saint-Germain loanee reacted furiously to being substituted off and seemed to openly question Pardew's decision.

Albion's head coach has hit back at the 28-year-old and said he should have shown him more loyalty.

"I do have a problem with it because I've supported him and played him and stuck by him when he's not been particularly great," said Pardew.

"And to come off and not shake my hand. I made it very clear to him on the bench I'm not accepting that, I think it's wrong.

"He's a player on loan who should show respect. I'm not going to make a big deal about it. I made it clear to him and I don't expect to see it again."

The score was 1-1 when Krychowiak was brought off but then Albion let in two goals shortly after that before Vicente Iborra's header completed the rout in injury time.

However, Pardew disputed the notion that the game moved away from the Baggies after Krychowiak was brought off.

"That's a little bit harsh if you're trying to stick that on me, I honestly thought we needed some legs," he responded.

"We started to look a little bit leggy in there and Sam, who a lot of people are begging me to play, did deserve a chance.

"I thought he might give us something going forward, he's got good ability and a good career in front of him.

"I have no problem with that substitution and I don't think that's correct (that it affected the game)."
