The 19-year-old got on the score-sheet in the second half alongside 17-year-old striker Jamie Soule.
But it was not enough to stop James Shan's side from losing in the Premier League Cup game at Portman Road.
After a goalless first half, Aaron Drinan gave Ipswich the lead a minute into the second period.
Field was then brought down in the box by Chris Goteni, who was shown a red card for his challenge.
The Albion man converted the spot-kick before Town retook the lead through Ben Morris.
Soule levelled the scores up again with 12 minutes to go, but Drinan grabbed a 90th-minute winner for the ten men.
Midfielder Rekeem Harper and third-choice goalkeeper Alex Palmer also featured for the Baggies.
Defeat has left Albion bottom of Group E in the Premier League Cup.
